Historical Overview of Duropack-Starpack Ltd.

The history of Duropack-Starpack Ltd. started in 1992, with the foundation of the Starpack Ltd.

The Kimle processing plant located near the area of Mosonmagyaróvár was the first site of the company. The processing plant specializes in providing complete small series, manual labour intensive services.

Initially Starpack had a 700 m2 processing unit and 1200 m2 of storage space. As a result of the developments the processing area increased to 2000 m2 and in 1994 the sales office is Budaörs was opened.

In Székesfehérvár a city with well-developed industrial structure the second processing was opened.

The 1999 market demand amounting to EUR 1.5 billion revenue was not able to be met even by two plants, so in 2000 it was necessary to establish the Füzesabony corrugated board manufacturing plant. The company's turnover in 2002 reached HUF 4.8 billion, in 2003 HUF 4.5 billion and in 2004 HUF 5 billion.

Forever young - 125 years of corrugated board....

In November 1, 1871 Albert L. Jones in New York introduced his idea and was granted U.S. patent for the first corrugated board for packaging purposes.

In 1882, F. MonThompson patented a corrugated board machine in the U.S., the operating principle of which is still valid. That was the beginning of a success story: Today there are hardly any products that can not be packed with Mr. Jones' invention - corrugated paper.

It is the flutes that make the cardboard into an extremely stable and versatile packing material. Firmly embedded between two sheets of paper they resist pressure and shock from the outside, are extremely flexible, thus can effectively protect packaged goods. The weight bearing ability of this structure is amazing: e.g. in the case of a margarine cargo it resists 400 kgs of load.

This structure allows the corrugated board packaging to match the desired goal exactly. Due to the variety of products the suitable design starts already with the corrugated board. Hundreds of corrugated board products are offered with different quality - white, coloured or brown with different flute profiles and single, double or triple flute designs, water or oil repellent and hygroscopic adhesive layer, which consequently can withstand weather.
